The free tier, and what Premium adds

Zen Passwords is free for up to five active items, with every feature working on them. It is the real app rather than a trial that expires. Zen Premium removes the item limit. Apple handles the purchase and shows the price and billing terms before you buy.

The free tier is sized to let you use the app properly on your own accounts before deciding, rather than to run your whole life on. Five items is not a vault. It is enough to put your email, your bank and a couple of logins in, turn on AutoFill, and find out within a week whether the thing fits how you work.

What counts as an active item

Any one entry, whichever of the seven kinds it is. A login with a one-time code, a passkey and two photos attached is still one item. You choose which five, and you can change your mind about which five.

What Premium changes

It removes the item limit, and it unlocks the breach check inside password health. AutoFill, sync, backups, recovery and all seven item kinds work on the free tier, on your five. That breach check is worth naming, because it is the one place where a security feature rather than a capacity limit sits behind Premium. It arrived in version 1.6, it is opt in, and it compares your saved logins against known breaches using k-anonymity, so no password and no full fingerprint leaves the phone. The rest of password health, meaning reused, weak and stale, runs for everybody.

Refunds, receipts and cancelling

All of it goes through Apple rather than through us. Purchases, receipts, refund requests and cancellations are handled in your App Store account, which is also why we cannot look up your purchase or issue a refund directly.

What is not part of the deal

There are no ads in the app, and no business model that depends on reading your vault. You pay for the app or you do not.
