Privacy Policy
Your writing and your account
Zen Slate stores your notes, tasks and attachments on your device. You do not need a Zen Slate account. Zen Products does not operate a server that stores your writing.
Optional iCloud sync
If you enable sync, your data is stored and synchronized through your own Apple iCloud account. Apple operates this service under its privacy terms. We do not receive a copy of your notes through sync. Sync requires an internet connection; local writing remains available offline.
Links, sharing and backups
When you add a web link, Zen Slate may contact that website to retrieve its title or preview. For certain video links, this can include the website's public preview service. Those websites can receive the requested URL and normal connection information, such as your IP address.
Exporting, sharing or backing up a file sends it to the app, person or storage location you choose. The recipient or storage provider handles that copy under its own terms. Copies outside Zen Slate are not removed by deleting the original slate.
Permissions you choose
Camera and photo access let you scan documents or add pictures. Microphone access lets you record voice notes. Speech permission supports on-device transcription on compatible devices and languages. You can decline these permissions or change them in device Settings; the corresponding feature may then be unavailable.
Optional Apple Reminders integration is off until you enable it. If you grant access, Zen Slate can read and write the reminders needed for that integration. You can revoke this permission in device Settings.
Purchases
Apple processes Pro purchases and subscriptions. Zen Slate uses purchase and entitlement information from the App Store to unlock features and restore purchases. Zen Products does not receive your payment-card details from the app.
Analytics and advertising
Zen Slate contains no advertising and does not track you across apps or websites.
To learn which parts of the app are used, Zen Slate sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, an analytics service. An event says that something happened, such as a screen being opened, a voice note being laid out, or a theme being chosen. It never includes the text of a slate, a title, a search, a file, or anything that identifies you.
Events carry a random installation identifier, the app version, your device model and system version, and normal connection information. Your IP address is used to estimate a coarse location and is then discarded; it is not stored with your events. PostHog processes this data in the United States.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings under Share usage.
Security and control
Your device's security features protect local app data. Supported devices can require biometric authentication to open a locked slate. Keep your device and Apple Account secure, and keep backups of writing you need.
You can delete slates within the app and empty Trash. Manage any synced iCloud data and device backups through your Apple settings. Uninstalling Zen Slate removes its local app data, but does not necessarily remove iCloud data, backups or copies you previously shared or exported.

If you contact hello@zenproducts.ai, we receive the message and any information you choose to include so we can respond. Please avoid sending private note contents unless necessary for your request.
We may update this notice when data handling changes. The revision date appears above.
Privacy requests and applicable rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information, restrict or object to processing, and raise a concern with a supervisory authority. Contact hello@zenproducts.ai to make a request concerning information we hold, such as support correspondence.
Where applicable, California privacy rights include knowing what personal information is collected and how it is used, requesting deletion or correction, opting out of sale or sharing, limiting certain uses of sensitive personal information, and exercising rights without discrimination. Zen Slate does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context advertising.
Your notes are controlled on your devices and in any sync or backup accounts you choose. We cannot retrieve or delete those copies for you. A request is not automatically satisfied merely because the app stores writing locally.
