Zen Passwords · Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your download, installation, and use of the Zen Passwords application for iPhone, iPad, and Mac (the "App"), and related materials we publish about the App (including pages on www.zenproducts.ai).
Publisher: ZENPRODUCTS TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED, trading as ZENPRODUCTS ("we," "us," or "our"). Contact: hello@zenproducts.ai. For the registered address on file, email the same address with the subject "Zen Passwords · Legal / Terms."
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Apple's Standard EULA and App Store rules
The App is distributed through the Apple App Store. Paid features (including Zen Premium subscriptions and any lifetime unlock we offer through In-App Purchase) are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple's Standard End User License Agreement ("Apple Standard EULA") applies between you and Apple as distributor. Where these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA conflict on billing, renewals, or refunds for App Store purchases, Apple's purchase terms generally control the payment relationship with Apple.
2. The App
2.1 What the App does
Zen Passwords is a password manager and secure vault for Apple devices. Depending on the version you install, you may store website logins, passkeys, one-time codes (TOTP), payment cards, identity details, bank account fields, Wi-Fi networks, software licenses, secure notes, custom fields, tags, folders, and attachments (for example images), subject to the features and limits shown in the App.
2.2 What the App is not
The App does not provide financial, legal, medical, or professional security advice. You remain responsible for your own security practices, regulatory duties, and decisions about what to store and how to protect your devices.
2.3 Platforms and changes
Availability, system requirements, and behaviour depend on Apple OS versions and device capabilities. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable. We are not obligated to maintain any specific feature forever.
3. Eligibility and Apple ID
3.1 Age
You must be old enough under the laws of your country to enter a binding agreement and to use the App. The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the higher minimum age where required). If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately through support channels, contact hello@zenproducts.ai.
3.2 Apple ID
Access to the App Store, In-App Purchases, and optional iCloud sync typically requires an Apple ID. Your relationship with Apple (including iCloud and App Store terms) is separate from these Terms. There is no separate Zen Passwords account for vault sync.
4. Your responsibilities
4.1 Master password and recovery
You choose a master password that protects your vault. You are solely responsible for its strength, secrecy, and safekeeping. If you lose your master password (and any recovery key you configured), we cannot recover your encrypted data. That limitation follows from the encryption design: we do not hold a copy of your master password.
4.2 Device and biometrics
You are responsible for physical security of your devices, OS updates, malware risk, and who can use your device passcode or biometrics. Optional Face ID, Touch ID, or Optic ID unlock uses Apple Keychain and Local Authentication. Anyone who can unlock your device or satisfy those checks while the vault is unlocked may access vault contents.
4.3 AutoFill and system integrations
If you enable AutoFill, passkeys, or other system extensions, you are responsible for reviewing those permissions and understanding that working copies of credentials may be stored for the credential provider as described in the Privacy Policy.
4.4 Backups, exports, and imports
You are responsible for maintaining backups of information you care about (encrypted exports, in-App backup features, iCloud behaviour under your Apple ID, or other means you trust). If you import data from files or other apps, you represent that you have the right to import that data and that doing so complies with applicable law. We are not responsible for third-party export formats or import accuracy.
4.5 Lawful use
You agree not to use the App for unlawful purposes, to violate others' rights, or to reverse engineer the App beyond what applicable law expressly permits.
5. Free tier, Zen Premium, and lifetime unlock
5.1 Free tier
The App may offer a free tier with a limit on how many items can remain active (non-archived) at once. Exact limits, archiving behaviour, and paywall messaging are shown in the App and may change.
5.2 Zen Premium subscriptions
Zen Premium may be offered as an auto-renewing subscription via Apple In-App Purchase. Apple charges your Apple ID. Pricing, billing cycles, renewal, cancellation, and refunds follow Apple's terms and your subscription settings (for example Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions). We do not collect your payment card number for App Store purchases.
5.3 Lifetime or other non-subscription unlocks
If the App offers a lifetime (or other one-time) In-App Purchase unlock, Apple processes that purchase under Apple's rules. Entitlement is verified through StoreKit on your devices.
5.4 Lapse or cancellation
If a subscription ends while you have more active items than the free tier allows, the App may require you to archive, delete, or subscribe again to regain full access to excess items, as described in the App. Imports, restores, and merges may be constrained by the same limits.
5.5 Trials, promotions, and tax
Any free trial or promotional pricing is described at purchase time and follows Apple's rules. Applicable taxes may be shown or collected by Apple according to your region.
6. Encryption, sync, and data location
6.1 On-device encryption
Vault secrets are encrypted on your device. Current designs use Argon2id key derivation for new vaults (with migration support for older wraps) and AES-GCM sealing for payloads, as described in our technical materials. Parameters and formats may evolve with App updates when a migration path is provided.
6.2 Optional iCloud sync
If you enable sync and iCloud is available, encrypted vault data and related key-envelope material may sync through Apple's private CloudKit database associated with your Apple ID. We do not operate cloud servers that hold your decrypted vault. Sync behaviour, outages, and Apple's handling of CloudKit are subject to Apple's terms and infrastructure. Limited non-secret metadata needed for lists and free-tier consistency may sync as described in the Privacy Policy.
6.3 Local-only use
If you leave sync off, or CloudKit cannot be used, the App may operate locally. You are responsible for understanding the implications for multi-device use and backups.
6.4 Exports and shares
When you export or share encrypted backup files or use the system share sheet, those files are under your control. Protect them like any highly sensitive material.
6.5 Third-party network helpers
When Load website icons is enabled in Settings, the App may fetch favicons by domain from a third-party favicon service. The App may also open URLs you save in the system browser. Those requests and destinations are outside the encrypted vault payload. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
7. Third-party services and links
Opening URLs from saved items, using Mail, Safari, Files, AutoFill, or other system interfaces may take you outside the App. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services you choose to use.
8. Intellectual property
8.1 Our rights
The App, its name, branding, design, and underlying software are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license to use the App as offered through the App Store and these Terms, we grant you no other rights.
8.2 Your content
You retain ownership of data you enter into the App. You grant us no license to use the contents of your vault for marketing or resale. Operational processing on your device (and, if you use iCloud, storage under your Apple ID) is necessary to provide the service.
8.3 Feedback
If you send suggestions or feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use that feedback to improve the App and our services, without obligation to you.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers; in those jurisdictions, disclaimers apply only to the extent permitted.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE PUBLISHER, ITS AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US DIRECTLY FOR THE APP OR ZEN PREMIUM IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (EXCLUDING AMOUNTS PAID TO APPLE), OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100), IF APPLICABLE LAW PERMITS SUCH A CAP.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where the law does not allow exclusion or limitation (for example fraud, or death and personal injury where such limits are void).
11. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the publisher and its affiliates from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights, to the extent permitted by law.
12. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or if required by law. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and governing law) survive termination.
13. Governing law and disputes
13.1 Governing law
Except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country requires otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would apply another jurisdiction's law. Courts in India have non-exclusive jurisdiction over disputes the parties cannot resolve informally, where permitted by law. Nothing here limits rights you may have to bring proceedings in your country of residence under mandatory law.
13.2 Informal resolution
Before filing a claim, contact us at hello@zenproducts.ai so we can try to resolve the dispute informally.
13.3 Apple
Apple is not responsible for addressing claims about the App or about failure to conform to any warranty, except as required under the Apple Standard EULA. Apple has no maintenance or support obligation beyond what Apple elects to provide.
14. General
14.1 Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Apple Standard EULA where applicable and our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App.
14.2 Assignment
We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. You may not assign your rights without our consent.
14.3 Severability and no waiver
If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of future enforcement.
14.4 Language
If we provide a translation, the English version controls in case of conflict, unless local law requires otherwise.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the updated version on our website and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be indicated where required by law. Continued use of the App after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance unless applicable law requires a different process.
