Zen LeanTracker · Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what Zen LeanTracker ("the App", "we", "us") collects, why, where it goes, and how to get rid of it. It covers the iPhone app and its Apple Watch companion.
Questions, requests, or complaints: hello@zenproducts.ai.
Summary
- You need an account. The App does not work signed out. You sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and password.
- Your data syncs to our servers. Meals, weight, fasts, workouts, daily health summaries and settings are stored in your account so they survive a new phone. This is not an on-device-only app.
- Health data is involved. With your permission the App reads Apple Health and, optionally, Google Health, and writes meals back to Apple Health.
- Meal photos leave your device when you use photo analysis, and thumbnails are stored in your account.
- We do not sell your data, run ads, or track you across other apps and websites. There is no advertising identifier and no third-party analytics SDK in the App.
- You can delete everything from inside the App, and the deletion reaches our servers, not just your phone.
1. Your account
Signing in is required to use the App.
| Method | What we receive |
|---|---|
| Sign in with Apple | The identifier Apple issues for you, and the name and email address you choose to share. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only ever see the relay address. |
| Sign in with Google | The identifier Google issues for you, and the name and email address on the Google account you choose. We never receive your Google password. |
| Email and password | Your email address. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and stored only as a salted hash. We never see your password. |
We use this to identify your account, sync your data between your devices, and contact you about your account if we need to. We do not use it for marketing without asking you separately.
2. What is stored in your account
When you are signed in, the following syncs to our servers and back:
- Meals and nutrition: what you logged, portion sizes, calories, macros and micronutrients, and when you logged it
- Meal photo thumbnails: compressed images of meals you photographed (see §5)
- Weight entries: values and dates
- Intermittent fasting sessions: start and end times, protocol, and history
- Workouts: type, duration, distance, energy, heart-rate summary, and source
- Daily health summaries: steps, active energy, sleep, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, and the recovery, readiness and load scores the App derives from them
- Check-ins: how you rated how you felt, when you record one
- Profile and settings: your goals, units, targets, reminder preferences, and which health source you chose to lead
- Logging records: a note of which days you logged, used for streaks and trend accuracy
This is your data. We use it to run the App for you: to show your history, draw your charts, compute your scores, and keep your devices in agreement. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not share it with anyone outside the processors listed in §9.
3. Apple Watch
The Watch app shows a copy of your day sent from your iPhone over Apple's device-to-device connection, and records workouts using the Watch's own sensors. It has no separate login, and it sends nothing anywhere except back to your iPhone.
4. Where your data is held
Your account and its related app data are stored on servers we operate so history can follow you to a new device. Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our hosting environment. We do not publish a public map of vendors or regions; details needed for a private contract can be requested at hello@zenproducts.ai.
5. Meal photos
When you photograph a meal:
- The image is sent over an encrypted connection to our servers, which may use a third-party analysis service to estimate the dish, portion, and nutrition.
- A compressed thumbnail is stored in your account, so the meal still has a picture when you look back at it and so it survives a reinstall.
Delete an individual meal and its photo goes with it. Delete your account and they all go. If you never use photo analysis, no image leaves your device.
Analysis requests are processed only to provide the feature you asked for. We keep no gallery of your photos outside your own account. We do not sell meal photos.
6. Apple Health
If you grant permission, the App:
- Reads weight, workouts, steps, active energy, sleep, heart rate, heart-rate variability, respiratory rate and blood oxygen, to draw your charts and compute recovery and readiness.
- Writes the meals you log back to Apple Health, if you turn that on.
Health data read through HealthKit is subject to Apple's rules as well as this policy. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing, we do not mine it for any use beyond the features you see, and we do not share it with third parties for those purposes. Some of it syncs to your account as described in §2, so your history follows you to a new device.
Revoke access any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Zen LeanTracker. Revoking stops new reads; it does not delete what has already synced. For that, use account deletion (§10).
7. Google and Fitbit health data (optional)
If you connect Google, you authorise us through Google's own consent screen, and we then read the same categories of activity, sleep and heart data on your behalf. Fitbit is part of Google, so data recorded by a Fitbit device reaches us through that same connection. We request read access only, and we never receive your Google password.
We use what we read to work out the summaries and insights the App shows you, such as your sleep and recovery readings and how your activity sits against your targets. Disconnect in the App's settings, or revoke our access at any time from your Google Account's third-party connections page. Revoking stops any further reading; what has already synced to your account is covered by §2.
8. Other network features
- Barcode scanning may send the barcode number (nothing else) to public or licensed food databases we use to look up nutrition.
- AI coaching may send a summary of your recent numbers, without your name or email, to a third-party writing service to draft insight cards.
- Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your card number, billing address, or Apple ID. Apple tells the App whether a subscription is active; that is all we get.
9. Who else processes your data
| Processor | What for | What they get |
|---|---|---|
| Account hosting we operate | Database, authentication, file storage, and related server functions | Everything in §2, plus your email address |
| Analysis and writing processors | Meal photo analysis and coaching insights (when you use those features) | Meal photos you submit; anonymous summaries of your numbers |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, HealthKit, subscriptions, crash reports | Per Apple's own privacy policy |
| Google and Fitbit import, if you connect it | Per Google's own privacy policy | |
| Food lookup databases | Barcode and food lookup | The barcode or search term only |
There is no third-party advertising, attribution, or analytics SDK in the App.
10. Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data for as long as your account exists.
Delete your account from inside the App: Profile → Account → Delete account. This removes your account and the data listed in §2 from our servers, and clears the local copy on your device. It cannot be undone.
Deleting the App from your phone only removes the local copy. Your account remains until you delete it.
Anything already written to Apple Health stays in Apple Health. That store is yours, not ours. Delete it in the Health app.
Backups may hold residual copies for a short period after deletion, until they age out on their normal cycle.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to your local data-protection authority.
If you are in the EU or UK: our legal basis is performance of the contract for the features you asked for, and your consent for health data, photo analysis, and the Google and Fitbit connection, consent you can withdraw at any time by turning the feature off.
Most of this you can do in the App directly. For anything else, email hello@zenproducts.ai and we will respond within 30 days.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined under California law.
12. Children
Zen LeanTracker is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
13. This is not medical advice
Zen LeanTracker is for personal awareness and self-tracking. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and its estimates (calories, macros, recovery, readiness) are approximations. Talk to a qualified health professional before changing your diet, fasting routine, or training.
14. Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you in the App before the change takes effect. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
